My grandpa was an industrialist, albeit a small one. As such, I hung out at my factory with all its workers just as Robin Williams did as a kid in his dad’s shoe factory, in the 1995 film Jumanji. I’m sorry if you’re too young to have watched the movie hahas but it was a good one.
There’s still a chance many kids my age and older have like memories of playing around their machines, perhaps developing romantic relationships with the son/daughter of the factory owner next door etc.
However, as increasingly more Singaporeans are left with nothing except an asset in a house on which a massive debt is piled, it is a misfortune for the generations after me as they are robbed of the opportunity to own something like my cousins and I did.
