The statement in the title is really about satisfaction. The highest form of satisfaction is derived, from any activity, by production, not merely by consumption.
To sit and read is the same as sitting and watching the television. Compare this with, for example, playing the piano. In order to consume a particular composition, you must first produce in the form of playing the piece in front of you. To take production, of the same piano playing example, to a higher level, perhaps one can produce by composing his own music. Satisfaction is, thereafter, enhanced.
Write a book or produce a short film instead, perhaps.
