I didn’t buy any gifts for my friends’ and families’ children while my daughter received from them all the same.
How can I teach my daughter appropriately?
It inevitably creates a false impression of the generous or stingy nature of certain persons who have or have not prepared gifts respectively; especially in children whose minds have presumably yet to be trained to understand complex issues.
I can only hope that more and more people will voice the same concerns as mine and eventually generate an awareness, if not a movement, that encourages other forms of displaying affection. We need not gift physical items.
