My father is more proficient in Teochew idioms than I am in Mandarin ones

My father is more proficient in Teochew idioms than I am in Mandarin ones.

Moreover, he watches Teochew operas which is the equivalent of Shakespeare’s plays, i.e. a matter of Teochew literature and intellect.

On the other hand, I and Mandarin opera? Like those in Beijing which is hardly my culture, or for that matter the culture of Malaya’s?

My proficiency in Mandarin is no where close to my dad’s in Teochew but I am better than him in Mandarin. So who is more Chinese and who is less?
